Helaine is an internationally experienced legal advisor to global companies and government on ICT, cyber security, personal data protection and governance.

A former Director and Secretary of ISACA in South Africa, and Director of the Australian Information Security Association (AISA), current Co-chair of the Australian Women in Security Network (AWSN), Current Director of the Australian Critical Infrastructure Information Sharing and Analysis Centre (CI-ISAC), Steering Committee Member for the Active Cyber Defence Alliance (ACDA), Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). A Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) and Fellow of Privacy (FIP) of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

Helaine is the founder of ICT legal, risk and advisory businesses in South Africa and Australia, and the Managing Partner of the Australia Office of ICT Legal Consulting (ICTLC), a law firm with offices and partner law firms around the world.

She is also a contributing author of the book Women in the Security Profession and of numerous articles published in Australia and internationally on the application of national legal systems to cyberspace, ethics, and cyber warfare. Her particular interest is lawful countermeasures to cyber-attacks and embedding the Rule of Law in Cyberspace.

Helaine regularly presents at international conferences including in Australia, China, and the United States, and has been actively engaged in teaching and knowledge transfer for government, the private sector, and academia for many years
